1. What changes are being made to Confluence Download licenses?

Atlassian is introducing a new licensing scheme for Confluence Download that aligns with JIRA's Download licensing and pricing, introduced in February 2012.

A new Confluence Enterprise offering is also available from September 4th, 2012 for customers with more than 100 users.

2. When are these changes happening?

These changes will take effect on November 3rd, 2012.

3. Why is Atlassian changing the price of Confluence Download licenses?

Continually delivering more value
Confluence has evolved significantly as a product since the release of Confluence 4.0 in September 2011. Moving forward we will continue to expand the scope of what Confluence is capable of, and the Confluence 4.3 release is an example of the direction we are heading.

Consistency and simplicity
We periodically review our pricing to ensure consistency with our other products and assure Confluence is priced fairly for the value it provides to our customers. We started by aligning pricing for our OnDemand products and this pricing update brings Confluence Download licensing and pricing in alignment with JIRA Download.

We remain highly competitive
We are committed to ensuring Confluence remains competitively priced and we will continue to deliver further value to our customers.

4. Does this change impact Confluence OnDemand pricing?

No, these changes only apply to Confluence Download licenses.

5. I own an existing license, how does this affect me?

If your Confluence Download license was purchased before November 3rd, 2012, you can continue to renew at your existing renewal price for two (2) years, through to a maximum end date of November 2nd, 2015. Legacy renewal prices are as follows:

6. What happens at the end of my two year grandfathering period?

At the end of the grandfathering period you will automatically receive a renewal quote for the new renewal price of your Confluence Download license.

7. I was planning on upgrading my existing license, how does this affect me?

Existing licenses can be upgraded at legacy prices before November 3rd, 2012, after which the new licensing scheme takes effect. Quotes issued prior to November 3rd, 2012 will be honoured for 30 days. Legacy upgrade prices are as follows.

8. I was looking to buy a new license, how does this affect me?

You can purchase a new license at legacy prices before November 3rd, 2012, after which the new licensing scheme takes effect. Quotes issued prior to November 3rd, 2012 will be honoured for 30 days.

If you do purchase a new Confluence Download license before November 3rd, 2012, you can continue to renew at the legacy renewal price for two (2) years. Refer to 'I own an existing license, how does this affect me?' for full details.

9. I was looking to buy Confluence clustered licenses, how does this affect me?

You can purchase new clustered licenses at legacy prices before November 3rd, 2012, after which a Confluence Clustered Node license must be purchased with or in addition to a Confluence Enterprise license at any of the following tiers - 500 Users, 2,000 Users, 10,000 Users or 10,000+ Users.

10. What is happening to the existing 2,000 User and 2,000+ User license tiers?

These legacy license tiers have been replaced by the new Confluence Enterprise 2,000 User, 10,000 User and 10,000+ User license tiers. You may purchase legacy 2,000 and 2,000+ User (non-Enterprise) licenses before November 3rd, 2012 and continue to renew at legacy renewal prices for two (2) years, through a maximum end date of November 2nd, 2015.

At the end of the grandfathering period, customers with a legacy 2,000 User and 2,000+ User license tiers will automatically receive a renewal quote for the new Confluence Enterprise 2,000 User and Enterprise 10,000+ User licenses respectively. Customers can change to a different tier if they, for example, had a legacy 2,000+ User license but only need a Confluence Enterprise 10,000 User license.

11. How does this affect Team Calendars and the SharePoint Connector?

There will be no change in price for existing Team Calendars and SharePoint Connector license tiers. A new 10,000 user license will be introduced to match Confluence's new licensing scheme. Note that the license type and user count must match that of the Confluence license it is being used with.

12. I own a Confluence add-on purchased from the Atlassian Marketplace, how does this affect me?

Add-on license tiers and Confluence license tiers need to match for the add-on to be functional, i.e. both have to be the same user count. If you upgrade to one of the new Confluence Enterprise licenses you will also need to upgrade your add-ons' licenses.

U kunt van ons ook een academic licentie verkrijgen. Deze licentie is bedoeld voor universiteiten en andere onderwijsinstellingen.

een "academic" licentie houdt in:

Confluence upgrades

Het updaten van uw software is heel eenvoudig nadat u enkele voorbereidingen heeft getroffen.

Een upgrade licentie heeft standaard 12 maanden support en maintenance. Binnen deze periode zijn alle upgrades en updates gratis.

Confluence support + maintenance verlenging

Iedere Confluence licentie heeft al support, update en upgrade voor 12 maanden welke vanaf aankoopdatum geldt. Indien gewenst kan Confluence steeds op de nieuwste stand gehouden worden. Atlassian heeft heel korte ontwikkel cycli en brengt elke 4 tot 8 weken een nieuwe versie uit. Daarom is het zeker belangrijk regelmatig naar de lijst van nieuwe functies te kijken om te zien of er voor u iets belangrijks beschikbaar is gekomen. Aan het eind van deze maintenance periode bestaat de mogelijkheid de support en maintenance te verlengen met 12, 24 of 36 maanden zonder een nieuwe licentie te hoeven kopen.

Als alternatief voor een Maintenance verlenging bestaat ook de mogelijkheid uw licente te upgraden naar de volgende hogere versie. Ook een upgrade heeft deze maintenance en support standaard al inbegrepen.
