What's new in JIRA 4.2? (first impression)

There are lots of great new usability features on the issue search and view issue pages, including a revamped issue search page, operation dialogs and keyboard shortcuts (see my last post for details).

This release also contains improvements in many other areas including:

• Labels (right)
• Time tracking
• Images
• Attachments
• Gadget creation
• And more

What's not in JIRA 4.2?

You may have noticed one of the features we talked about in the JIRA State of the Union at Atlassian Summit 2010 is not part of JIRA 4.2, specifically the ability for different browser tabs to contain unique searches. Unfortunately, we encountered some browser compatibility issues that require us to go back to the drawing board and provide a more robust solution. We hope to include this feature on our roadmap again soon.
